Good morning Crystal Lovers it’s Crystal Thursday and we are taking a look at Malachite, a copper based mineral found all over the world. Mining is done in countries such as Russia, Africa, France England, Mexico and here in the US.
Before we get too far into our conversation about Malachite I would like to mention that because of the copper content in this beautiful multi-shaded green mineral it is toxic and care must be taken if handling it in raw form. Prolonged contact with the high copper content, whether handling or breathing in the dust can have an adverse affect on red blood cell formation. If you are working with raw Malachite I suggest wearing a mask and washing you hands well after if you don’t wear gloves. Once tumbled or polished the risk is pretty much resolved.
From what I’ve been able to discover about the first find it was a very long time ago. Approximately 10,000 years ago it is said to have been discovered in the Shanidar Valley of Northern Iraq. The mining and use of Malachite has been going on for around 6000 years for jewelry, statuary and for architectural use making this one of the oldest semi precious stones in use today.
The Chakras Malachite resonate with begin at the Heart and work down to the Root Chakra. Malachite is known as a warrior stone because it increases courage, increases self confidence and personal power then gives you the courage to follow your heart.
Let’s take a look at some of the metaphysical qualities Malachite has to offer when working with it.
- It is said to absorb negativity from your aura leaving you feel stronger and more confident.
- Helps you work through issues to bring a balance to your emotions.
- As a talisman of personal protection it helps keep people from draining your personal energy.
- It helps detox your liver and kidneys.
- It helps lower blood pressure and support good blood circulation.
- The copper content in Malachite can help reduce pain in joints.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Malachite. If its qualities resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing healing qualities of this stone or any crystal or mineral is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.
Until Next Time…
Blessed Be ❤ Sharon
