Crystal Thursday – Shiva Lingham

Good morning it is Crystal Thursday once again and we are looking at a crystal I originally posted about back on February 16, 2018. Our topic for today is, Shiva Lingham, a rare and sacred stone only found in the Narmanda River in India. During the dry season people go to the river and carefully pick up the stones and hand polish them according to Vedic Tradition.

The word Lingham is Sanskrit for symbol, so that means the stone is Shiva’s Symbol and they are used in worship. The stones naturally form the interesting phallic/egg shape and have different variations of banding colors of reddish brown, tan and black. There is a story that the Goddess Parvati hand shaped the Lingham from sand to represent both the Divine Male and Female. Each stone is unique in size and banding pattern. So any piece you buy is a one of a kind!

Even though it looks like Jasper, Shiva Lingham are composed mainly of Quartz mixed with other minerals so they are technically crystals. They resonate with all the chakras and help realign them. The Mohs scale for Shiva Lingham is a strong 7 but as this is a sacred stone they are rarely if ever carved.

Let’s get to the fun stuff and look at the metaphysical qualities of Shiva Lingham.

  • They boost energy and strength.
  • Intensifies inner transformation.
  • Helps us break old patterns of behavior so we have space for new ideas and growth.
  • Helps ground you to this lifetime.
  • They activate the kundalini energy.
  • They help you understand that you are unique yet part of a whole.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Shiva Lingham. If the qualities of this stone resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing healing qualities of this stone or any crystal or mineral is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.

Until Next Time…
Blessed Be ❤ Sharon
