Good morning everyone welcome to Chakra and Angel Friday. This is an Angel day and we’re taking a look at Archangel Jophiel. This Archangels name means Beauty of God and presents as both female and male. I have mentioned in previous articles that angels are genderless but can present themselves male or female as needed. Although Jophiel does present as both the female aspect seems to be more often represented.
There are a handful of alternate spellings for Jophiel like Iophiel, Iofiel, Jofiel, Yofiel, Tsophiel and Zophiel. Most sources in my research say Archangel Jophiel is from the choir of the Cherubim but I came across another that placed her in the highest level of Heaven which would put her in the choir of the Seraphim. If that is not confusing enough there are a couple facts that are also contradictory.
The first being she carries a flaming sword which the Seraphim are known to do. The other is that she is also known to be guarding the Garden in Eden and the Tree of Life which is something the Cherubim were assigned to after they kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden. I must say I’m a little confused. More research is required for this one.
The faith traditions that recognize Archangel Jophiel are a couple Christian traditions and the Jewish tradition. She is said to be protector of the Torah and that she organizes the readings from it on Sabbath days. The Jewish faith didn’t recognize Angels until after their time of captivity in Babylon.
The Archangels they do recognize are Michael, Raphael, Uriel and Gabriel. So, more often than not when I say an Archangel is recognized by the Jewish tradition I am speaking of the mystical aspect of the faith, the Zohar and Kabbalah. Within this part of the Jewish faith tradition Jophiel leads 53 legions of angels alongside Archangel Michael in the battle against evil in the spiritual realm.
Archangel Jophiel is a very warm, friendly, and positive being. From my research it seems she is quite tall, wears yellow and carries a flaming yellow sword that she uses to help cut through the clutter to get to wisdom and illumination.
With her name meaning Beauty of God she helps us see beauty in all areas of our lives. Part of this is bringing creativity, wisdom and illumination to us. She is the patron saint of artists and all types of crafts people, helping ignite their creative spark. Jophiel helps us stay confident by reminding us of the amazing things that can happen when we believe. She is probably the first to teach that energy follows focus. When we focus on good and beautiful things, good and beautiful things will happen.
Another aspect of beauty is being grateful. Jophiel helps us find beauty in being content and with what we already have in our lives. Gratitude goes a long way, after all if we aren’t grateful for the gifts we already have, why should we be given more?
Archangel Jophiel is also the angel of wisdom and understanding and she will help us cut through the nonsense of bad habits, old thought patterns and beliefs that no longer serve our highest good in order to help us be more positive, have healthier relationships and take better care of ourselves. In addition if you are struggling to learn a new skill, studying for an exam or need to understand something better, call on Jophiel for help. That is all we have to do. The Archangels are more than happy to help us, all we have to do is ask.
Crystals you might like to use when working with Archangel Jophiel are Citrine, Ametrine and Smokey Quartz. Scents you might like to use are Lemongrass, Lavender, Orange and Myrrh.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Archangel Jophiel, and that it helps you understand how this Archangel helps to enrich our lives. Have a great week and come back for the next post where I will be talking about the Crown Chakra.
Until Next Time,
Blessed Be ❤ Sharon
