Good morning and welcome back to Crystal Thursday! The crystal we’re discussing today is a type of micro-crystalline chalcedony (Quartz family) called Chrysoprase. The original post went up on the 27th of August 2017. I’m noticing my posts were beginning to get a little longer but still contained very little information. I was new to blogging and hadn’t quite managed the learning curve yet.
Chrysoprase is rare. Its color ranges from yellow green to light apple green. Occasionally it can be found in darker greens like Granny Smith or a light Aventurine color. These are even rarer and consequently more expensive. The beautiful green color comes from nickel deposits in the environment the crystal forms.
Its history of use is a little staggered. From what I’ve been able to find in researching, during the middle ages it was believed that if you put a piece in your mouth you’d become invisible. How fun would that be; hide and seek would be epic! The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans were aware of and had limited use of it but it didn’t really gain any foothold until a source was found in Southwest Poland during the 1700’s. Another large deposit was found in the 1900’s near Marlborough NW of Rockhampton England which was mined until the late 1950’s. The most active mines in operation today are found in Australia, Madagascar and Brazil. On the mohs scale Chrysoprase comes in at a strong 7.
This crystal resonates very much with the heart chakra. Chrysoprase eases loneliness; helps bring emotional balance, peace, happiness, joy and optimism. It helps us work through negative feelings. If you are looking for love this crystal can help; being green it can also attract money. Let’s take a look at some of the other metaphysical characteristics.
- Putting a piece under your pillow will improve sleep quality.
- It is said to heal fungal infections when combined with Smoky Quartz.
- It is said to improve skin issues like eczema and dermatitis.
- Helps increase energy.
- Helps improve fertility.
- Helps balance hormones.
- Improves clarity.
- Improves creativity.
- Builds self confidence.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief look at Chrysoprase. If the qualities of this stone resonate with you I encourage you to purchase a piece and work with it. Keep in mind I am not a doctor and sharing the healing qualities of this stone is in no way giving medical advice. Working with it can help but if you are ill see your medical practitioner of choice.
Until Next Time…
Blessed Be ❤ Sharon
