Spessartine Garnet in The Morning Light

I wrote, a couple weeks ago about the Garnet family and it’s amazing qualities. You can read that article here if you missed it. This week I am writing about a rare and moderately expensive member of the family called Spessartine. The color of this type ranges from orange to red orange. This gorgeous piece is a little bit of both.

Its name comes from the Spessart area of Bavaria Germany.  I wasn’t able to pinpoint who specifically discovered this beautiful garnet, but the time frame was mid to late 1800’s, and that is as close as I could get. That mine eventually closed and Spessartine was kind of forgotten. In the last fifteen to twenty years new pockets have been discovered in countries such as Tanzania, China (where this piece is from) Pakistan, Brazil and the USA. It’s still rare but not so much as before.

Being shades of orange, Spessartine resonates well with the Sacral and Solar Plexus Chakras. It’s known as the Stone of Harmony and Good Health. The energy of this crystal helps us let go of fears and embrace our passions. It is a great stone for creative people. Some of the qualities this crystal has to offer are:

  • It enhances clarity by sharpening your analytical thinking ability.
  • It gives a good boost to creative processes.
  • It helps you overcome depression and fear.
  • It increases confidence.
  • It gives the determination to make life changing decisions.
  • It helps increase focus and concentration.
  • It balances the bodies energy
  • It helps the reproductive and digestive systems to funtion better.

I hope you have enjoyed this brief introduction to Spessartine Garnet. If it seems like something you would like to work with, I encourage you to acquire a piece and give it a try. Remember that crystals and minerals were given to the Earth to enhance our lives. I am in no way suggesting anyone leave allopathic medicine. Rather the purpose of these weekly articles is to offer alternative options to enhance your lives and the healing process.

Blessed Be ❤ Sharon
