Petoskey Stone in The Morning Light

Way back in the day, the Devonian period, parts of Michigan were a shallow ocean where coral thrived in the warm water. Eventually the ice age came around to put an end to that. Ice sheets spread south, the coral beds were ripped up. As the earth began to warm and the ice sheets recede, the coral was dropped across the upper area of what would be Michigan. Petoskey Stone is found from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron. 

This stone is named for Neyas Petosegay and means “Rays of the Living Sun”. He was a French Metis man born in 1787 along the Kalamazoo River in Michigan. He married at the age of 21 and eventually moved his family to the Little Traverse Bay area that would in time become Petoskey. In 1965 Governor George Romney named the Petoskey Stone the state stone. 

Petoskey Stone works very well with the 3rd Eye and Crown Chakras and has a harness of 4 to 5 on the MOHS Scale. A few of this stone’s qualities are:
