Rainbow Obsidian in The Morning Light

In August of last year I did a crystal post about Snowflake Obsidian. Today I am going to tell you about another form called Rainbow Obsidian. The obsidian group is fascinating to me because it isn’t considered a mineral but ‘its not necessarily a crystal either. The silica based magma cools so fast that it can’t crystallize, and forms the natural glass.

Obsidian is another crystal that has been in use for a very long time, so long that it is difficult to know just when it was first discovered and used. I did find a record of Pliny the Elder of Rome discussing in his Encyclopedia of Natural History,  a man named Obsidius finding natural glass in Ethiopia in AD 77. This is very interesting but I also read several articles discussing evidence that obsidian has been in use up to 4000 years ago. Because it is a natural glass formed from volcanic magma, obsidian can be found all over the earth. On the MOHS scale the hardness is considered a 5.5 – 6, making it workable.

The rainbow in Rainbow Obsidian is formed from inclusions in the magma. When you hold the piece to the light you can see the bands of color. When my piece ( see above ) was being polished they discovered the rainbow effect was in the shape of a heart. I picked it up to take a closer look at it and I couldn’t put it down, I had to bring it home with me 🙂

The energy of this very grounding and protective, it acts like a shield to help keep negativity out. If you place a piece in a room it will clear negative energy from the environment. On a personal level rainbow obsidian will remove negative thoughts and feelings then replace then with more positive ones.

It encourages you to focus on the good in your life. This would be an excellent choice for someone who suffers from depression because it gives you hope and something to live for. This crystal will help you get to the emotional root of a problem, bringing up issues, habits and emotions that need work so you can deal with them, and let it go so you can begin healing.

Another thing I like about Rainbow Obsidian is that we sometimes feel lost and stuck in our lives and this crystal works with you to help you see where changes need to be made in our lives. It will inspire you to be brave, try new things, to discover new strengths and talents you didn’t know you had.

As a prosperity piece it will help you get rid of habits and other things that keep distracting you from reaching your goals, and it will keep you committed and determined to reach them.

To wrap up this post I would like to say Rainbow Obsidian is wonderful to use in meditation. It’s energy brings in light and gratitude. It will clear your aura and also enhance clairvoyant abilities.

OK, you know what is coming now! My disclaimer, which tells you I am not a doctor and I am not suggesting you give up on the wonders of allopathic medicine. I am offering alternative option for your person healing and spiritual growth.

Blessed Be ❤ Sharon
