I had a different post in mind for today. I put it aside this morning as I was sitting with my son in the dining room at breakfast. We were talking about today’s draw and our plans for the day. As we were talking I noticed the tab on my tea bag had a quote from Milton Berle on it.
If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.
I mentioned to my son that this could be a blog post. The more I thought about it, the more I liked it.
Occasionally we have an idea for a project or a product that we think is great but instead of going for it and making it happen, we sit on the it waiting for the perfect time or the money we think it will require, or even the belief in ourselves that we can actually make the dream a reality. Then along with the waiting life gets in the way of the perfect idea, the perfect opportunity slips away. Sometimes we have the dream and do try make it happen but get discouraged and give up if the result is less than what we expected.
Don’t give up on an idea or a dream just because of a failure. Failures are wonderful lessons. It doesn’t matter if the first, second or fifth attempt didn’t turn out. Keep trying! If you have a dream that is so strong you can feel it in your soul. If it is a part of who you are, it was put there as a gift for you. Not all gifts come assembled. Sometimes we have to do the assembly and occasionally some of the parts get lost in shipment. So it’s going to take work to put it all together.
Don’t wait for the perfect time. Now is the perfect time! If you have a product and you can’t find anyone to sell it in local shops. Do it yourself, put an ad in the local paper and sell it directly, open and online shop, give samples to friends and family, they will spread the word about your product for you.
Whatever your dream is, don’t give up on it, don’t wait for that perfect time or just the right opportunity. Create your own opportunity. Build your own door to the future you want. There are so many successful people who started with just a dream. If they can start from little or nothing and build the life they dreamed of, so can we.
Start with what you have and work with it, get creative in the way you look at the dream. What are your options? How many different ideas can you come up with? Work one step at a time. Get advice from people you trust that are doing something similar. Most communities have some sort of business mentoring program where a retired business person will work with you to get your idea started. Do what it takes, use the resources at hand. Don’t think that you can’t make your dream come true, know that you can. Believe you can!
Have a great day.
Blessed Be ❤ Sharon
